Malabar by Ettore Sottsass smashes the established, solid and reassuring image of functionalist furniture, producing a sensation of surprise and food for thought. It combines contrasting forms and colors, seeming to confront us with two different worlds. The exotic forms and the name evoke India, which become stronger presence in Sottsass’ work starting in the 1970s.
