The small table Ivory by Ettore Sottsass – in its title and its form – reminds us of the ivory tower of the Christian tradition, a symbol of noble purity. But with remarkable irony, Sottsass disrupts this background with an outburst of colors, shapes and patterns. Ivory thus takes its distance from the purity of “good design,” becoming “radical.”
